KIMONO: Fashioning Identities

Hello from Wet Tokyo!

As museums in Tokyo have started welcoming guests to their exhibition, I recently had a chance to visit the special exhibition of "KIMONO - Fashion Identities" held at the Tokyo National Museum. This exhibition traces the kimono from its inception some eight hundred years ago to its role today as a symbol of Japanese culture with increasing sway on the contemporary fashion scene. The exhibition pieces were just all breathtaking and beyond my expectation.
My personal favorite was Nishijin Haori (warrior outer robe) of Nobunaga Oda, one of the historical legends.
Enjoy shopping with BARRIQUE TOKYO!

Sincerely, Chieko
